José Pedro Croft


José Pedro Croft is a Portuguese plastic artist born in Porto in 1957, he majored in painting in 1981 at the School of Fine Arts in Lisbon, city of residence since adolescence, when he moved with his family after a brief passage through Galicia. His work has special reference in architecture, through the organization of formal space and the concept of monument and its deconstruction. It is contemporary of Peter Calapez, Pedro Cabrita Reis and Ana Leon, having exhibited with them. Over the years, he gained an important status in the national and international art scene, participated in several international exhibitions, having already held solo exhibitions at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation (1994) and a retrospective at the Centro Cultural de Belém (2002).
