Joaquim Álvares de Sousa


Portuguese plastic artist, born in Gaia in 1972, graduated in sculpture from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Oporto, in 1997.

A small reflection of an artistic course … marked by a strong workshop mark, immersed in the intrinsic need of creation that goes hand in hand with the handling of matter, intimate relationship with horizon on the human scale beyond the formal transcendence of each sculpture.

Author of several public art monuments in Gaia, Fafe and Oporto cities. Over the years he has held collective and individual exhibitions. He is represented in several public and private collections, such as ANJE – National Association of Young Entrepreneurs, Fafe Institute of Higher Studies, Gondomar Town Hall, Cáceres Museum, Port Wine Museum, Alberto Sampaio Museum and Plein Ciel Sarl, Carouge , Switzerland.
