Edgar Pires was born in Oeiras in 1982 and graduated in Sculpture at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Lisbon in 2007. His artistic session evoked an experience of observation on everyday life and the investigation and experimentation of materials in the multidisciplinary territory of sculpture / installation. In this context, the processes of production of sculptures promoted by them are alchemists of experimentation and, at the same time, experimental, unravel what this transformation suggests. This discourse manifests itself mainly in in situ and specific site interventions, which subvert as atmospheric characteristics of the surrounding space. As a rule, installations made up of sculptures of an abstract nature, originating from this experimental process of transformation, carry this enigmatic essence of the phenomenological universe to the space where a work is installed. He has exhibited since 2009, highlighting his trajectory as celebrities until becoming Gold, Appleton Square, Lisbon (2017); Incolor, MNHNC Stag Room, Lisbon (2013); Light, Space and Actions, Sala Bebé – Espaço Avenida, Lisbon (2013). In 2014, the set of artistic residencies Carpe Diem Arte e Pesquisa, in Lisbon, with the presentation of the project developed in the 17th Cycle of Exhibitions; and in 2013 at the COOP Residence, also in Lisbon, which opened a collaborative exhibition with Nuno Rodrigues de Sousa (PT) – Surface / Obstacle. In 2015, he presented “Edgar Pires / João Seguro” at Solid Air, in Lisbon.
